Applied Health NLP Journal Club/Reading Group 2022

We will be holding a new monthly journal club/reading group for 2022 at Melbourne Connect, focused on applied health NLP, with potential topics including:

  • Public health surveillance (for both communicable and  non-communicable conditions as well as for pharmacovigilance) using social media data
  • Deidentification of clinical notes
  • Medical acronym resolution
  • Health question answering
  • Integration of NLP with epidemiological methods
  • Use of NLP to support health-related social science research
  • Use of NLP to support clinical decision support systems
  • NLP for detecting over-interpretation of research results
  • NLP for detecting suicide risk
  • Legal, regulatory, and ethical issues in Health NLP research

Paper selection will be driven by the current research interests of participants.   Anyone with an interest in health NLP is welcome to attend.

We will meet at 11am to 12.15pm every 4 weeks beginning 31st January 2022.  Given current pandemic-related constraints, we will be meeting via Zoom.  If you would like an invitation to the Zoom meeting or an invitation to the reading group mailing list, please email Mike Conway.
